Grapes are a good source of vitamin C, vitamin K, and vitamin B6. They also contain minerals such as potassium, calcium, and iron.

Grapes are known to be one of the most heavily sprayed crops, which means that they can contain high levels of pesticides. Pesticides are chemicals that are used to kill insects and other pests, but they can also be harmful to humans, especially during pregnancy. To minimize the risk of pesticide exposure, pregnant women should consider buying organic grapes, which are grown without the use of synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, or other harmful chemicals. You can also wash them thoroughly before eating. Washing grapes before eating also helps to remove any dirt and debris.

High sugar content; consume grapes in moderation

Whilst all fruits have sugar, grapes are on the higher end with around 15 grams of sugar per cup.

This high sugar content can be a concern for pregnant women with gestational diabetes or those who are at risk of developing it. Gestational diabetes is a type of diabetes that develops during pregnancy and can cause complications for both the mother and the baby. Pregnant women with gestational diabetes should limit their intake of grapes and other high-sugar foods.

In short, grapes are safe to eat during pregnancy but be sure to wash your produce or eat organic where you can. As with everything in your pregnancy diet, grapes are best in moderation!
